Field Service and Applications Engineer

To apply, please send your information to shawn.mcguire@curibio.com

SUMMARY:

The Field Service and Applications Engineer is a technical expert and customer advocate who drives the successful deployment, support, and continued evolution of our innovative platforms. You will be the primary technical responder for on-market instruments — diagnosing hardware, electrical, mechanical, and software issues on customer benches and remotely. You will also support applications development by helping validate new workflows and assays against real customer use, and contribute to internal quality processes that close the loop between field observations and engineering. Throughout, you will actively gather customer insights and market trends to inform product direction.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain robust relationships with key customers and collaborators to support the expansion of platform adoption.

  • Deliver product demonstrations, customer training, and onboarding to help users get full value from the platform pre- and post-sale.

  • Provide field and remote support for on-market Curi Bio instruments — diagnose hardware, electromechanical, software, and connectivity issues to resolution.

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for instrument-related issues, working directly with customer scientists and lab managers to restore productivity quickly.

  • Perform on-site installation, calibration, requalification, and preventive maintenance to ensure instruments meet performance specifications.

  • Translate ambiguous field reports into reproducible issues and credible engineering tickets; act as the bridge between customers and internal engineering and manufacturing teams.

  • Maintain field service documentation, knowledge base content, and service procedures so issues are resolved faster over time.

  • Support Curi Bio's quality system by contributing to CAPA investigations and RMA follow-ups — providing field data, reproducing issues, coordinating failure analysis, and tracking actions through closure.

  • Relay customer feedback, field observations, and market trends to engineering and product teams, and help validate new features against real customer use.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. or M.S. in mechanical, electrical, biomedical, or a closely related engineering discipline — or equivalent hands-on experience.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting complex instrumentation in life sciences, medical devices, or a similarly regulated/precision-engineered environment.

  • Proficiency troubleshooting electromechanical systems, containing hardware, firmware, and software elements.

  • Working familiarity with QMS practices and prior experience contributing to CAPA or RMA investigations.

  • Comfortable scripting in Python (or similar) to reproduce issues, parse instrument logs, or prototype a quick analysis.

  • Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills — comfortable leading demos, training sessions, and difficult troubleshooting conversations.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and across functions.

  • Willingness to travel up to 30% to 40% of the time for customer site visits, training, and industry events.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience in a field service or customer-facing technical role within biotech, medtech, or pharmaceutical industries.

  • Hands-on experience with engineering test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators) and reading electrical schematics or mechanical drawings.

  • Experience with cloud-connected instruments and basic familiarity with AWS-hosted analysis platforms.

  • Working familiarity with the language of cell biology, organ-on-a-chip, electrophysiology, fluorescence microscopy, or related lab techniques — enough to communicate credibly with customer scientists.

  • Passion for innovation and a startup work ethic (comfortable wearing multiple hats); alignment with Curi Bio's collaborative and respectful culture.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The job responsibilities of this position are predominantly performed on-site at Curi Bio HQ near downtown Seattle.

  • Will enter a BSL2 laboratory environment, including potential exposure to biohazards.

  • Frequent travel (domestic and international) required.

  • Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds, field service work may involve lifting and positioning instruments during install or repair.

  • Fine motor movements in fingers/hands to operate computers and lab equipment.

  • Must be able to follow all risk reduction and risk mitigation guidelines as provided by federal, state, and local governments, building management, and the company.

BENEFITS:

  • Full-Time Salary Range: $85k - $115k + benefits. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Short-term Disability

  • 401k plan

  • Commuter benefits program

  • Career advancement opportunities within Curi Bio.  Specifically with regards to product and applications improvement.

Please submit your resume and cover letter to careers@curibio.com. Please include salary expectations and desired start date in your application.
